The first version of my Interactive Fiction is complete, I learned a lot doing it especially from the forum at intfiction.org. It’s very simple, the plot is almost non existent, descriptions are deliberately kept light, the ‘puzzles’ ( I use this term lightly) are easy. This was deliberate so I could get used to how Inform 7 works, so that in future I can create something a bit more complex.
I’ve wanted to write some IF for ages, and if I’d written up a near years resolution this would have been on it!
Setting Out
Your father has been missing for some time, you decide to set out for the local town in order to get help.
You can play it online here.
If you’d like to download and play it off-line then you can download the Zblorb file here. You’ll need an interpretor such as Windows Frotz to play it

It’s been a long standing ambition of mine to write an adventure game, and though I’ve been experimenting I’ve never made anything that you could sit down and play. Since I have some free time at the moment I thought I’d go ahead and write a piece of Interactive Fiction, using Inform 7. I’ve tried Inform before but never really got anywhere, but this time I’ve gotten a lot further, and created a two room game. It’s very simple and deeply un-original but even the act of creating this simple game has taught me a lot. I still have a way to go, whilst I think I’ve grasped writing puzzles that require one action e.g unlocking something but I’m a little stumped on how to arrange puzzles that require the user does more than one thing. I’m reading through some IF forums and worked examples so hopefully something will click soon.
Despite it being very simple, I am enjoying the process of writing it a lot. There’s a lot to remember though, forgetting to define a fireplace as fixed in place allowed me to pick it and and carry it around, whilst amusing allowing it to remain would completely destroy any kind of atmosphere I create. I’m also trying to make it as non linear as possible to encourage exploration, and avoid frustrating users by forcing them through in a set order.
I’m also debating ‘set dressing’, whilst the aims of the piece are simple I do wonder if it’s worth putting items such as photographs about the world which when looked at give some background information. These items wouldn’t be needed for solving the game just to add atmosphere, but then again I don’t want to clutter it.
Still first I need to figure out this whole multi requirement puzzle thing, so it’s kind of like I at least am on my own adventure already.
We finally did it! it’s out !the near mythical Neko Majin Z final episode! and it’s exciting for Neko Majin and Dragon Ball Z fans, for we meet old friends again a a potentially powerful villain looms on the horizon!

This is an adaptation of Japanese Fairy Story “The Mirror Of Matsuyama”..

After some issues Fyrestarter Productions is back up here. Auditions are open for Neko Majin 5.
Neko Majin Z is a self parody manga by Akira Toiryama author of Dragon Ball/Z and Dr Slump. Neko Majin ran for 5 chapters in the Japanese version of the famous manga magazine shonen jump and is also available in book format. NMZ makes lots of fun of DBZ, with the main character Z the Neko Majin being not too far from Db’s hero Son Goku
This is the last episode so features a ton of characters from Dragon Ball Z, I’ve added in a few since the NMZ manga shows a few but they do not speak. Since the chronology is a little off in the manga too I’ve taken liberty with their ages. I am not worried if you sound like the dubs or not, I watched the Ocean dub when it was on but if you can do FUNimation cast impersonations feel free. This is a parody so as long as the characters are recognisable that’s fine.
GOHAN

( Minor part)
Goku’s son is now an adult pretry much, he still retains his light hearted soul. All the excitement has got him thinking about his heroic past
Line 1:
See! I told you my Great Saiyaman outfit still fits!
Line 2: ( In his heroic voice)
GOHAN: HAHA! ALRIGHT NEVER FEAR THE GREAT SAIYMAN IS HERE!
GOKU

Main character
Goku one of the most powerful warriors ever, he also has a very pure heart or else is very simple. We’ve reflected his country accent from the Japanese version, but I’m not stuck to this like glue. What I’ve most looking for is a voice that embodies adult Goku. ( Goku does do a little humming/singing in this episode nothing fancy just make sure you are comfortable with it ;D)
Line 1:
Well I was gonna ask, have ya been keeping up your training?
Line 2:
Gosh Dang it! I could of sworn it was around here!
Line 3:
( an attack yell as if Goku is diving toward an opponent about to hit him)

Ox King

( Minor Part)
Goku’s father in law, he’s allways cheerful and happy and has a deep booming voice.
Line 1:
So Goku! Did you bring help?!
Line 2:
Never better!
Uub

A student of Goku’s a reincarnation of Buu. Poor guy often get forgotten about!
Line 1:
It’s been ages! I’m glad you could come!
Pan

Ahh isn’t she your fav character ever?!! It’s Gohan’s daughter Pan, since GT doesn’t seem to have happened here perhaps she grows up as a cool character!
Line 1:
So are you are you sure this is going to work?
Line 2:
Doing great! Just waiting to have an adventure of my very own

I really did forget to update this place. I’ve updated the layout so it’s cleaner and am going to finish updating my personal information. This site has been through so many changes, I tried out a games blog for a bit but to be honest I’m not really happy with a lot of the writing so a lot of the posts have gone. Random thoughts tend to happen on LJ and Twitter. Going to refocus this site though as my personal homepage again.
Now I’ve got some voice acting to finish, and I’m then once again going to try and animate a walk cycle…
Meant to blog about this earlier in the week about my relaunched voiceacting.co.uk . VAUK is my voice over, fan dub, media creation community site.
In the screenshot above you see the Voice Actor’s Directory, all the site’s users can create their own VA resume. There’s also a production directory, forum, as well as all the site’s previous tutorials, news and reviews. It’s aimed at amateur voice actor’s, but it’ll also be useful for those needing voice actors such as games makers, animators, podcasters etc. I also hope it will be an interesting place to hand around.
I’ll be adding new features as time goes on.
It seems to Scott that his son always has to the right about everything, and he almost always is. But what worries Scott is that the facts might be changing to fit what the boy says and not the other way around. Strange events have been swirling around Sam ever since he was a baby when he was rejected and almost killed by his mother. Now at the age of twelve the strange phenomena seem to go increasing at an exponential rate. How much is Scott imagining? Is he jealous of his son? or has he passed on the strangest of special talents?

Woohoo, great comeback ep =D
Love your use of sound effects in general, especially any of the fighting scenes. You clearly know how to mix those!
I felt the lines could have been mixed slightly closer together so that everything sounded a bit smoother. When there was a vocal song in the background, some of the lines were a bit too low and I couldn’t hear them over the song.
Line volumes were a bit uneven from the middle towards the end of the radioplay. The first part of the radioplay is definitely the strongest, production-wise.
I loved your Pan, Azure!
hehe
All of the actors did a great job, too. I’ve always liked our Narrator.

Thanks Mindy, I probably should have sent it to you before I did a general release..I’ll take a look at the stuff you mentioned and do a fix-up re-release.
Yeah we ended up a strong cast, and it just isn’t NMZ without Treg!Dunno about my Pan though o_0
